OUR ANCESTRY
WHERE TO IN THE FUTURE
Todays community is such a happy-go-lucky one that we sometimes tend to take a
little too much for granted. Let's not worry about the trees or the atmosphere today, they were
here a thousand years ago and will be here in another thousand years.
Trees need air to survive as does the air depend on trees to be able to continue
supplying a lifeline to so many creatures and plant life.
This statement may or may not be true but in the present day society people are
beginning to be more and more concerned with the inanimate objects. One such object is the
preservation of our Ancestral Monuments - the Cemetery Headstone or Plaque.
The Campbelltown District Family History Society Inc. has undertaken the task of
preserving these headstones by way of a pictorial and inscription record on
CDRom.
Dedication of the compiler, and in particular our photographer, Trevor Rhodes and his
wife Anne is greatly appreciated. Their expertise and dogged determination ensured us of a first class product. Many thanks also to our Research team of Esma Hannah and Carol Beever and the
Cemeteries Committee from the Society. Thanks also goes to Kylie Rhodes for her valuable help in the typing department.
Thanks also go to Marie Holmes of the Campbelltown And Airds Historical Society Inc.for her help in identifying research data, and a special thank you
to
my wife Jillian, for her moral support over this period.
Let us not grasp for the future before we have secured the past.
